Hello everyone!

I can't believe that last year, I was studying my ass off for the Bac. And now I'm watching others freaking out and studying before the exam that starts on thursday. I feel old xD
Anyway, it's become kinda boring round here, we are all a bit confused without any homework to do or exams to study and there's not a lot of stuff to do. So yesterday, I went out with my twin and my two best friends in the dorm and we walked in the city for at least three, maybe four hours. The sun was shining and we felt courageous :) I'm ashamed to admit that I've never really visited the city even though I've been there for almost a year :/ I'll try to do it more next year.

On the evening, we bought a shitload of crisps, boiled sausages in a plastic kettle (they were delicious but it still smells) and then we sat in my sister's bed and watched The Shining, one of my friend had never seen it before and it was delicious to see her slowly freak out. I love that movie so much<3
However, we were all a bit scared when we went to bed at 1am and we realized that we were probably the only ones awake in the building (a lot of students have gone back home) and that the room in front of mine was the number "237" (if you know the movie, you know what I mean) xD

Anyway, it was a great evening and I can't wait to have more of that kind. I'm bringing Clockwork Orange next week and my friend brings Die Hard :D And now I'm just watching The Big Bang Theory (the episode with Summer Glau was AMAZING) and... this made me ridiculously happy (SPOILERS for Doctor Who
YAY for the end of the year!

AHOY!
It feels so good to be home! The past week was slow, very boring and quite uneventful, except for Wednesday's evening where we went to the theater, to saw a very loose adaptation of The Idiot by Dostoevsky. It was amazing! Four hours of mind-blowing theater, I can't even begin to describe it. It was extremely...decadent? Violent to say the least, with rock songs, actors shouting and covering each other with paint and a guy who wandered completely naked all the time. I guess it sounds stupid but it was really original, changes from the classical, boring french plays.

The actor on the photo was playing the Prince Mychkine, aka the idiot. He's an actor that I thought didn't know but I remembered in the middle of the play that he used to be in a comedy show that me and my twin loved to watch a few years ago. I'm so glad I saw him in a play :) He was amazing, shifting from completely absurd and insane, jumping all over the scene and then really dramatic and moving.

Tonight, I also went to see The Boat That Rocked at the cinema, my mum really wanted to see it because it's the story of pirate radios in the sixties and she used to listen to them all the time. Radio Caroline and all :)
And it was great! Hilarious, with excellent music and brilliant actors. Bill Nighy is looking sweet, Rhys Ifans is a real dandy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jack Davenport, Nick Frost, Kenneth Branagh, Katherine Parkinson, Rhys Darby, Chris O'Dowd...they're amazing together <3

Any of you guys saw it? It made me want to listen to some 60s tunes again. Well, more of them anyway, it's such a sweet homage to music. Makes you proud to be a pirate, a modern day one, who doesn't have to get a boat but just a computer :)
The only weird thing is that there were no tracks of The Beatles but I guess they didn't get the rights :/

And I'm going to see Star Trek tomorrow! Yay! I'm so thrilled, I've only heard/read good reviews :D

HELLO GUYS!
What a week! I'm glad it's over though, two weeks of school left and I'm on holiday. And did I mention I'm going to ROME the first week of holiday? Because I doooooo. It's going to be amazing, I've always wanted to go there and we studied a lot of Rome's history this year so I can't wait to see it FOR REALZ.

Anyway, nothing interesting happened this week except yesterday evening because I went (with school) to the Opera of Lille to see Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny) which was AMAAAAAZING. It's by Brecht and I'm sure that even if you don't know the opera, you know "Alabama Song" which was covered by The Doors or David Bowie. I never went to the Opera before and seeing a piece by Brecht and Weil, whose work we've studied a lot in Literature or German classes, was fascinating!

The songs were great, the set and costumes were outstanding. As for the actors, just wow! Such voices, it's really impressive! It gave me goosebumps, honestly :)

Did any of you watched the series finale of Life On Mars US? I haven't yet but I really want to see it because it's apparently a thing of beauty. spoilers )

HELLO :D
THIS WEEK = WIN! So much stuff happened, it was truly wonderful :) On Monday, I gave my blood for the first time, it was great although I felt a little weird afterwards. On Tuesday evening, two of my best friends, my twin and I went out to get a little drunk on St Patrick's but France is total fail and no bar sold any Guinness. I understand why St Paddy isn't celebrated or known in France but a little effort? Still, it was great. The hangover on a Wednesday? Not so much. I caught a cold and had to stay in bed all afternoon, losing precious time to work on my philosophy essay. But eh, nevermind cauz I finished it today :D
On Thursday, I went to a demonstration in Lille. You might have heard of the strikes and demonstrations. A lot of different people came and it gave me hope about how a nation could stand up to its leader. Really wonderful :)

I took a few photos, I think they give you a good idea of the atmosphere. The huge weird babies are part of a project called Lille 3000.
photos :D )

Hopefully, all of this won't be in vain :)

Anyway, BSG finale was broadcasted yesterday, wasn't it? PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ME! I'm only two or three episodes behind and I'd be very angry if someone posted spoilers without a cut. Hope it was good and wow, I can't believe it's already over. I discovered it last year I think and it certainly is one of the best tv shows ever. I'l miss it :'

AHOY, ME HEARTIES!
I'm on holiday! Two weeks of pure delight and procrastination <3
As I failed again to update my lj this week, I must tell you what I've done.

1. HUGE FUCKING PARTY ON FRIDAY NIGHT. (mentioned here and I realize I haven't answered to anyone's comments, sorry and thanks a bunch for the compliments about the hair <3)
OMG, IT WAS EPIC. Really it was, those economics/capitalistic students really know how to throw a party. We were 300 or so in a wonderful place, the belfry of Douai. Most of us were dressed up in white and they did some really cool lighting effects. Before going there with 2 friends and my twin, we stayed at another friend's apartment and we...prepared ourselves for the party? We drank a lot - because there was no way we could buy alcohol at the party, it was unbelievably expensive - so when we finally arrived around 9pm, we were already warm and danced like crazy until 3am. Cheesy music, awful techno, annoying boys who try to dance with you and drunk students who throw up everywhere but whatever, it was awesome. I loved every minute of it and it was a great opportunity to get to know my classmates :) And I also saw my ex-boyfriend, who was at my school 2 years ago! Unexpected but welcome, he's a nice guy :)
We went back at the apartment at 3am and slept until 7am, but jesus, 4 in a bed, even large, is insane. My back still hurts xD

2. On Thursday, they FINALLY gave us our khâlot. I think I already wrote about it here but basically, it's a little hat that students of classes préparatoires wear and where they can put lots of lapel pins that symbolizes their life, hobbies, what they study...
Here's mine!photos )
Belzé is my nickname (=Beelzebub), the book and feather means that I love literature. The harp shows that I can't live without music and the upside down bottle at the back means that I'm in the dormitory and that I came back drunk one day (one evening, not during school Oo) I've put an old Bugs Bunny lapel pin, the red strip means that I'm in my first year of studies, and the brown colour of the khâlot means that I study literature (also represented by HK - hypokhâgne, the name of my class). If I studied economics, it'd be light blue, green is for biology and dark blue for maths and physics. There's a lot of rules concerning the khâlot, it's quite hilarious, we could buy pins meaning that we were dreamy or a premature ejaculator (an arrow) xD
I still have to add a few badges to make it fully mine but I already love it, it's too adorable and I finally feel like I'm part of my school. It's great :D

THE OSCARS! Predictable but still enjoyable :) I didn't watch the whole thing (never did) but Hugh Jackman's intro was lovely (WOLVERINE) and I'm so glad Slumdog Millionaire won lots, it deserves it <3 And Kate Winslet! Finally! :D

I also watched the first episode of Dollhouse yesterday...I'll continue to watch (especially because my bb Matt Kesslar is in episode 2) but it didn't thrill me much. I don't see anything special about the plot and the whole thing seems a bit forced. What did you guys think? And does it get better?
I'm still watching Being Human. I really like it, Gilbert was hilarious <3

1. So I went to see The Dark Knight on Sunday evening, for my defense, it's only been out since Wednesday in France. OMG, it was amaaaaaaaaazing. I expected a lot and I wasn't disappointed. I don't even have anything to say, just that it was great and that I would love to see it again. Way better than Batman Begins and definitely better than the old ones, I love the realism they went for. spoilers? )
By the way, I think I saw lots of DK parody on the web but I never watched it because I didn't want to be spoiled, would any of you wonderful people had some links where I could see the best of them?

2. Baaaaaaaaaad news now: Fox has announced a bid to block the release of Warner Bros.' anticipated adaptation of Watchmen. This info ruined my day. Seriously, what kind of studio waits for a film to be almost finished and for trailers to be shown to the public to announce that they're gonna block it for some weird story of money and rights? This is disgusting. I'm pretty sure they can't block out the film completely but still, major suckage.

3. I finished my Buffy marathon a while ago, watching every episode, listening to every commentary and it was great and then I missed my daily Whedon dose. So yesterday I started watching Firefly with the 2 hour pilot. I meant to watch it like foreeeeeeever, I think I had the first episode (not the pilot) in my harddrive and I even maybe watched it but I didn't have any subtitles so I guess I didn't understand much and deleted it. But watching the pilot was a great idea because it's awesome and I can't wait to watch the rest, Nathan Fillion is hot (DUH) and I'm loving the Space Western vibe.

Man, that was a too-geeky-for-your-own-good entry, wasn't it?

If you could be cast on any TV show, from any time, who would you play?

View other answers

If I could be cast on any tv show, I'd be playing a villain on Doctor Who. I'd be a disgusting looking alien, coming from a planet far away from Earth where the traditional beverage is alcohol made from human brains so I'd try to invade Earth to become rich and rule the economy of my home planet. But the Doctor wouldn't let me kill all the amazing human beings and I'd try to take Donna's brain because it'dseem so tasty. After managing to save her from beheading thanks to his sonic screwdriver, the Doctor would beg me to redeem myself because he'd know there's a nice and friendly alien behind the squishy face. I'd say I'm sorry and oh god I had no idea humans were so great and every life is sacred but actually I'd be plotting a dark revenge and I'd try to kill the Doctor using one my tentacle and a tv but Donna would save his ass using only a hair dryer because she's awesome like that. I'd die screaming "damn you doctooooooooooooor" and the news of my death would create a great terror on my planet and my fellow aliens would promise never to drink alcohol made from human brains because it really isn't worth it and the hangovers are horrible anyway.

Can't you tell I'm exhausted? xD
My day was pretty intense, I had yet another oral. A french one this time, about the role of Astronomy and stars in the book "The Leopard" by Lampedusa. I had to talk for 45 minutes in front of people who didn't really care about what I was saying and obviously didn't understand everything I said about a man trying to escape a trivial world and a decadent aristocracy for an abstract and ethereal world governed by ideas and ruled by Venus who is in fact Death. Did I even understand it myself?

By the way, I watched the season finale of House yesterday. It was great! Pretty intense and very sad :( I wish the fourth season had been more like this instead of being a sort of pompous and annoying succession of uninteresting and uneventful episodes.

Hope you had a great day guys. And look! I've got a Spike icon, how cool is that? :D

1. So I went to Paris yesterday and it rained for half the time I was there... I bought some books half the price that I usually have to pay here (yay Gilbert Jeune and your second hand books!). Then we went to an amazing exhibition at the Louvre about Babylon and we had a walk in Paris. And in the Tuileries Garden we totally ran into Edouard Bear aka one of the few french actor that I like, didn't recognize him since he was walking alone and nobody was looking at him but my mother confirmed that it was him. How awesome is that? :)

2. Top 5 me! Books, art, culture, music, fandom stuff, movies, television, pictures you want me to take, ANYTHING. Ask as many as you'd like. Be vague. Be specific. I don't care if it's mundane or off the wall, although the latter might be more fun.

Where I live (Northen France) is currently extremely well-known and appreciated thanks to (because of?) the french movie Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis and it's actually quite hilarious to see the rest of France discovering (even if the movie is full of clichés) the area I live in. And it's a great area really, you're not far from anything, 2 hours away from Paris, 2 hours away from Belgium, the Channel tunnel must be 2 hours away too. And even if the weather is shit, most people here are great. But when they're not great, they're really awful xD

I'm writing here because I'm lazy. I really should write Nano but I have a bit of a writer's block and a terrible headache. I only wrote 14,106 words so far and I want to reach 18k before the end of the day. Possible Y/N?
What doesn't hellp my writing is the fact that I'm a bit drunk, we kinda celebrated my birthday (and my twin's of course) today with my family because we won't have enough time on Tuesday and I think I drank too much Champagne. But I got 100€ from my grandmother! Yay :)

Anyone saw that?. I don't believe it, I read somewhere that John Simm didn't like having too much attention so I definitely don't see him playing 11. I'm sure it's bullshit.

11 november today...89 years since WWI ended.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
