There's an audio interview with Damon online at the Guardian, and it's about 40 minutes long on "about what the music of the noughties meant to him." I thought it said "nineties" for about a minute, until I realized that apparently this decade is referred to as the "noughties." ~the more you know~~ You can download the whole interview on the website.

I'm about halfway through listening to it and, as usual, he's sort of a downer on Blur coming back again (but it's not bringing me down, ty documentary news!). And LOL, he didn't want the BBC to film Glasto at all, because he wanted it to be a ~ritual experience~ with the crowd. OH DAMON. But, so far, it's super interesting and it's nice to hear Damon's perspective on music and things in general.

LISTEN TO IT. GO.

edit: some quotes from the interview on this page;

On Blur, the reunion, being a frontman once more

That was really strange... It was a very disciplined time. I stopped drinking entirely. I dropped making this new Gorillaz record, which had been all consuming, for three months, which was really difficult at the time. Bit by bit we got back to the level where we had been in our prime. Where it was stadiums and everybody singing and very euphoric. And then after the last gig in Scotland I got on the train and left it all behind. That's it, I haven't thought about it since. For me, it was so nice to do that again and to know that I had left on a good note with Graham, Alex and Dave, but I didn't come off stage thinking, "I'm a rock star!" at all. I really didn't. It was really strange. I loved every second of it and I felt the songs had lasted and there had – kind of, in a way – been a vision of Britain as it is now... but then when it had finished it was like, we've all got to get on with our lives now. It was like a really nice holiday and a really nice treat and a great honour to experience. You can't underestimate the feeling of a 100,000 people at Glastonbury just singing every word back to you... it's an incredible feeling... it's unbelievable ...

It's a party in the USA~ )

Just wanted to say--my Thanksgiving was great, ignoring the fact that my brother was crazier than usual. (My brother, if you didn't know, is a bit autistic. His particular condition is a combination of several different conditions and it's all very complicated; in general he's a swell guy.)

My family and I saw Zombieland for a second time. (Second for me, at least.) And my mom came home from New York today. Zombieland is even better the second time. :)

So, I'm starting to feel a lot better. Been getting out and doing things and seeing people and that's been good. We had a big screening for our films at the Regent cinema which was a lot of fun, and last night we had an industry awards night (we won nothing!) which was good too. Which reminds me, we still have to put the actual film up on youtube, but it will happen soon, I promise.

Also Tamala presented me with this last night as a sort of 'feel better soon' type thing:

Yes, that is a homage to the Cake Wreck's Carrot Jockey. It is amazing :D I almost don't want to eat it, it's too brilliant. Maybe I'll just eat the cupcake and leave the carrot jockey in the fridge to scare people.

Anyway, I'm going to make a list of things to do over the holidays, so I don't get bored. This is what I have so far: learn French, finish the books I've started, catch up on the tv/films I've been meaning to watch, go walking and swimming more, plan some epic funtiems with friends, get a job maybe, finish my picfic, and learn to cook something other than curry and fried rice. Also Tamala and I have started a comic challenge with a guy from uni, so there's that. Anyone got other ideas?

So I watched some telly (I am behind though...I haven't watched any of my Thursday shows).

Criminal Minds: 100 )

No Criminal Minds next week :( Oh and some spoilers concerning Emily I've read and want to talk about.

might-be spoilers )

Glee made me cry twice in this episode. Absolutely loved Imagine and Tina singing True Colours at the end :) But I am so annoyed with the whole Finn/Quinn/Rachel/Puck - foursome. I really don't care. Actually, I want Finn and Quinn to stay together. Kurt annoyed me, too. They really need to focus more on the other characters. Eve was pretty hot in the episode though :) I hope she'll be back later. And the five months-hiatus suckssss.

I really want to know who [info]her_pseudonyme is in real life. Apparently she has already published four books. I wonder if it's someone famous-ish. Her latest Cal/Gillian fanfic was amazing. And she writes het smut that doesn't make me wanting to throw up, so kudos to her. And I cannot go a day without checking [info]lightmanfoster lately. The hiatus will kill me. People better keep on writing fanfics. I think I will make a fanmix this weekend.

Christoph Waltz won an award yesterday and he made like a 30 seconds speech. It was rather hilarious. First someone talked about 4 minutes about him, he got up, took the prize, said thank you and left. Oh, how I love this man ♥

Going to see August Diehl tomorrow in a play. Wheeeee! I better hope I won't forget my camera, otherwise two people will kill me *g*

I still don't know if I got a job or not. Alex, my supervisor, keep sending emails to the US, but no definite answer yet. FML :( But I have the power of the stock now, muhahaha. That means I control which dvds and blu-ray people can take home. For this weekend I decided on The Incredible Hulk (Tiiiim and Edward Norton ♥ also I've only seen the crappy telesync...) and Bienvenue Chez Les Ch'tis (I heard that one is supposed to be awesome).

Seperate post with extended version of La Leggenda Del Pianista Sull'Oceano and the soundtrack which I promised [info]angy3101 ages ago. It's locked.

I missed so many birthdays this month, it's ridiculous. I AM SO SORRY, GUYS!! I hope you all had a great day and celebrated it the way it made you happy :D

Aparently, Chris Eccleston is playing John Lennon in some BBC drama with Torchwood-Tosh as Yoko Ono.
Fact is, he's a good actor and he should be more than capable of doing the job, I don't doubt that ... but I probably won't be able to watch this without imagening other members of the Who/Torchwood cast in other roles. Ianto, Owen and the 10th Doctor are unemployed ... there we go, Beatles cast!

Also, spoiler warning for the ending of Hamlet (yes, THE Hamlet. The play that's been around since the 17th century)???!!! Seriously people! That's like putting a spoiler warning with the information that halfway through "Titanic" the ship hits an iceberg and as a consequence sinks. These things are not spoilers, they are common knowledge ... almost everyone dies, btw. In Hamlet and Titanic. There. Spoiler!

Talking about spoilers. I love how they German press reports on New Moon by telling almost the whole story of the film, till the clocktower scene. And then go all "will she be able to safe him?!" ... as if that was really up for debate in a film like that.

I don’t normally do this, because it usually turns into a clusterfuck. But the fine little Thinkpad X61 that Avatar Press picked up for me when my main computer died horribly last year… well, it’s been worked very hard, and is starting to cough a little blood. It’s also buzzing intermittently, after the last wave of Windows over-the-air updates made it do a fainting goat impression and then turn itself off.

I have, however, quite quickly gotten used to working on a laptop rather than the big desktop machines I’ve been using since the 90s.

(And I have to say, for a tiny machine, the Thinkpad is a terrific device. Its single real drawback has been that its recovery system will steal the entire hard drive if you let it.)

So I’m looking at new laptops, speculatively. I’m not going to have the spare money for one until next year. But, as much as I also need a new phone (the Nokia N95 8GB keeps randomly shutting itself off, which is not useful in a mobile device), a work computer is going to have to take precedence.

Being in the UK, I don’t have the selection of cheap and lovely things available to my US readers. But I would appreciate some suggestions for a big, powerful laptop that is unlikely to start jetting blood and asking for mummy in eighteen months’ time.

No Macs, no Linux: I have a lot of Windows-specific software and function that I need to maintain. Don’t even talk to me about partitions and Windows emulators and whatever, I’m a working writer who can’t programme a VCR and I Do Not Have The Time.
